Privacy Policy
Last updated September 8, 2026
This policy covers Syllbi's mobile app and syllbi.com, together "Syllbi." It explains what information we collect, why, how we share it (we don't sell it), and what control you have over it.
1. Information we collect
Account information. Your email address (for authentication and account recovery), a username, and, optionally, an avatar image you upload. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only the basic profile information (name, email) that provider shares with us to create your account — we never see your password for that provider.
Content you create. Guides you author, guide progress and node status, ratings and axis tags, diary entries, notes, likes, follows, and work suggestions.
Device and notification information. If you enable push notifications, we store an Expo push token tied to your device, used only to deliver notifications you've opted into (new followers, likes, and suggestions on guides you own). You can disable this at any time; disabling it clears the stored token.
What we don't collect. We do not collect payment information (the Service has no paid features), precise location, or your device contacts. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or analytics SDKs.
2. How we use it
Your data is used to operate Syllbi: to show your guide progress, diary, and notes back to you, to power features like follows, likes, and suggestions, to display your public guides to other members, and to send notifications you've asked for. We also use the content of reports and guide suggestions you or others file to review and moderate the Service.
3. How we share it
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share data in these limited cases:
- Service providers. Supabase (database, authentication, file storage) and Expo (push notification delivery) process data on our behalf to run the Service — see "Where it's stored" below.
- Other members, for content you make public. A public or unlisted guide and your username/avatar are visible to anyone who can reach them, by design.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, or to investigate a report of abuse, fraud, or a security issue.
4. Where it's stored
Syllbi is built on Supabase, which hosts our database, authentication, and file storage (for avatars). Supabase acts as our infrastructure provider; your data is stored on their servers under our account, governed by their own security practices.
5. Reports and suggestions
If you file a report against a guide or profile, or submit a work suggestion to a guide, that submission (including any note you write) is visible to us and, for suggestions, to the guide's owner. Reports don't currently have an in-app review status for the person who filed them — we review them directly.
6. Your account, your data
You can edit or delete your diary entries, notes, and guides at any time from within the relevant screen. You can permanently delete your account and associated data from the app's account settings; deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Deleting your account removes your profile and all data that cascades from it (follows, progress, notes, likes, axis tags, diary entries). If you've authored a guide that other people are actively following, the guide itself is kept (orphaned and hidden from Discover and search) rather than deleted out from under them; a guide nobody follows is deleted along with your account.
7. Cookies (syllbi.com)
The website uses a single cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
8. Children
Syllbi is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
9. International users
Syllbi's infrastructure is provided by Supabase and Expo, whose servers may be located outside your country. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed in a different jurisdiction than the one you're in.
10. KVKK — your rights under Turkish data protection law
Syllbi is operated under a Turkish entity, so the processing of your personal data is also subject to Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (Kişisel Verilerin Korunması Kanunu, "KVKK"). Under KVKK Article 11, you have the right to:
- Learn whether your personal data is being processed, and request information about it if so;
- Learn the purpose of processing and whether your data is used in line with that purpose;
- Know the third parties, in Turkey or abroad, your data has been shared with (see "How we share it" above);
- Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data;
- Request deletion or destruction of your data, subject to the legal grounds set out in KVKK, and to have that request notified to any third party it was shared with;
- Object to a result produced solely by automated analysis of your data that is to your detriment; and
- Claim compensation for damages arising from unlawful processing.
The account-deletion and content-editing controls described in "Your account, your data" above are how you exercise the correction and deletion rights in practice; for anything else in this list, use the contact address below. Legal basis for processing is your explicit consent at signup and, for account security and Service operation, Syllbi's legitimate interest and legal obligations under KVKK Article 5.
The data controller (veri sorumlusu) identity for KVKK purposes will be added here once Syllbi's Turkish entity is formally registered — this section reflects the rights KVKK grants regardless of that registration's exact status.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to the contact address listed in the app.
This document is a good-faith template describing what Syllbi actually does. It is not legal advice, and hasn't been reviewed by an attorney — have one review it before relying on it for compliance purposes.
